It has been over a week since the President declared in a speech that if you have a business or are successful, you didn’t build it, you didn’t have a hand in it, or words to that effect.
Well, I dare say that this simple sentence has had a larger negative effect on him than anything else he has said or done. Like many others, I was ticked off about his comment. “What do you mean I didn’t build it, I asked. Boy, he really opened a can of worms, this time”.
But, just the other day, I found myself thinking about what he said again and thought, he isn’t all wrong here.
Now, hang on and hear me out.
For years I have said to you that as believers, everything we have comes from the hand of God. Therein lies the big difference. Many people look to government and credit the beast that it has become, for what we possess and where we are heading.
Nothing could be further from the truth. Frankly, I am glad he said it as it has caused me to reassess, to reset and remember who my provider is.
In Deuteronomy 8:18 you’ll see a clear declaration that it’s the Lord that gives us the ability to produce wealth.
Philippians 4:19 states that my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Elsewhere we see that it’s His will that we prosper and be in good health, even as our souls prosper.
So, there you go, Mr. President, I didn’t build that. If I did, it would be a deluxe mess. But, neither did the government. What we have has been provided to us by the very hand of God. What He gives doesn’t rot or decay. It’s not full of regrets and despair.
How about you, are you able to make the same statement? I pray you are.
